Clean up

Cleanup after a battle is never fun.   Moral slips and it is difficult to get back on post.  I've been going through the motions again, but it is going to take some restoration to build back up.  But as always, I lace up my boots and pick up my gun, and it's work as always.  It's just what I do.

Attack

Over the weekend we had a full frontal attack.  The battle was brutal and we fought hard, but we weren't able to hold our position. It was brutal.  We through about every trick we knew how to, and held firm, but they came with a vengeance.  We have regrouped and are tending to wounds, and hashing out a new battle plan.  We must be better prepared the next time they come at us.  We had our watches out, but we underestimated at how hard they were going to hit.  What we need to do, and will do next time is devote all of our resources to the line once we sense a fight.  We must put away all distractions, and ready ourselves.  They demonstrated their commitment to taking us down last night.  They will do everything in their power to take this point, but we aren't going to let them.  We incurred casualties last night, but no deaths.  There are some wounded, but we will recover and become better because of it.  If we know how to do anything, it is knowing how to get back up again and recover our position.  We are back in this war, and where we weren't as prepared as we should have been, we will take the lesson to heart and fight back will all that we have.

Failure to advance

We have been making a push and trying to gain the next ridge, but the enemy has been successful at keeping us locked down.  We've been able to hold our ground here, but once we make an attempt at advancing the enemy has a strong position and always shoves us back.  We have seen this situation before, and I know that we can indeed make the ridge, but what a battle it is going to be.

I think part of the problem is coming from sabotage within.  The enemy has been messing with our gear, so we are going into many of these battles under equipped.  They are also using guerrilla warfare and coming at us when we are not prepared to fight.  They know we have the resources to defend any onslaught, but if they can keep our resources divided they know they can be successful.

Marching Orders

I am a little late in starting this journal.  A lot has been happening, so I think I will just jump into it and you can catch up. By tomorrow everything might change anyway, so knowing a history probably wouldn't be overly helpful anyway.  The short of it is I have been on assignment for a little while now.

Up to date, we have come through several skirmishes already.  The enemy has been elusive.  Just when it seems safe they take another pop-shot at us.  Some damage has been done.  Several are wounded, but our spirits are high.  We received some much needed supplies today, which was a huge relief.  Moral had been running low.  We can't be sure when they are going to hit us again.  We have a pretty good idea of their next move, so we are standing ready and watchful.
